Typo goes online and jewelery project and Iphone upgrade

I heart Typo!  It has cheap quirky stuff that is good for around the house or for the office.  I actually have not bought anything for the house from Typo, but I have plenty of stuff at the office - its a good one to personalise your space and cheer up your day! http://shop.cottonon.com/typo/.
This is an example of the cool stuff you can get from Typo - this is a pencil case, but I use it as a makeup bag!

Jewelery Project

These hoops are from Lovisa, I invested in am expensive classic pair of gold hoops years ago, but never got good silver hoops because they always bring out cheap cool silver hoops that are different.  I love big hoops!

Pink bracelet, this is actually a proper crystal bracelet, but because I have no interest in those kind of things I did not pay attention to what kind of crystal it was!  It was a gift :-

So I upgraded my Iphone software for my Iphone 4, the upgrade took an agonising three hours - then it crashed my Iphone and wouldnt finish the installation and just stayed on the apple icon :-(.  Luckily I remembered a recent news story involving virus protectors and the new software, so I turned my virus software off and it reinstalled no probs.  Arrgh to technology!  So far I havent worked out all the extras, but the new way the messages are presented is pretty cool.  I love my Iphone, I dont know what I did before it...

10 pan project panned and Jewellery Project!

I cant wait until I am moved into my new house, where I can actually set up a place to take decent photos of things instead of dodge dark ones!  We actually have a really nice camera (not a flash flash one, but a nice one). Today's jewellery is:

These hoops I got from Sportsgirl probably 4/5 years ago. I love them, they are the only hoops I have with dangly attachments and I have got my moneys worth out of them!

Diva flower ring, another plastic cheap one but it does the job!

I have decided to pan the 10 pan project!  I have revamped it and to 'Products finished today' project. I just realised that I had heaps of products that I wanted to purposefully use and I didnt want to limit myself to tracking 'ten pans' or which kind - the samples, the makeup, the skincare etc.  So todays 'Products I finished today' is:

Avon moisturiser PM and AM samples. These were good little moisturisers, but nothing that made me want to buy them. It is kind of hard with moisturiser samples to get a good impression about the product.

Bikinis and oops pretty shoes

I was way to excited about the prospect of Summer and promptly went out an bought two bikinis!  Technically they are four bikinis, because they are reversible.  And considering how much my hubby spent on my Tigerlilly bikinis - these are a bargain!  Cotton On have a fantastic range at the moment, actually most of the cheapo stores like Valleygirl and Dotti have some great cheap bikinis.  These are the ones that I picked up, I had to get a size up because I have a major baby bump - and the tops are a bit of a squeeze but they will do for my backyard pool :-):

I must of been on a shopping high, because after I purchased these I walked around the corner to Novo shoes and impulse bought two shoes (but they were 50% off the second pair).  I have not impulse bought anything for a long long time, so nearly had a heart attack when I actually realised that I had spent $95 on shoes that were not a prearranged/thought out purchase!!
Luckily I had no buyers remorse, these heels are perfect!  I have been looking for a pair of bootie style heels for over a year, I wanted them in black but they only had the light pink.  Now I am glad they didnt have them in black because I have so many pairs of black heels and these pink ones are so lovely.  The light coloured heel make my legs look longer as well :-).  Also they are super comfy for heels!

These glitter black flats are awesome for work/casual/going out.  I couldnt get a nice pic off the Novo website so had to take this dodgy pic!  w ith the discount these were $25.  I have spotted these shoes in silver and black at Target for $30.  Target are really annoying me at the moment with there massive shoe prices hike!  They are now nearly on par with normal retail shoe stores with their pricing.  So annoying because I am loving their new range as well, but I just refuse to pay those kind of prices.  Hopefully they will still have their random awesome bargain sales where you can get Target shoes on the cheap.

More Erin Louise and another ASOS order

I ordered two more Erin Louise singlets.  The ones that I bought at the Handmade Markets were so pretty, but as they were more glamourous going out singlets, I wanted to pick up a couple of casual ones.  Even though at a cost of $72 (two for $60 plus $12 delivery), this was easily justified as I am moving to a place of all year warmer weather, whiche means I will wear them to death - if I was still in the chilly place I probably wouldnt get the wear worth out of them.  I was pleased as punch to when I went to download the images of them from the order album - and they are no longer being sold! Yay now I have limited edition Erin Louise singlets ;-).  I am still lemming more as they are so pretty pretty, but this will do for now!

This is a light grey singlet with the tiger/flowery strap.  At the Handmade Markets they had this in white in my size, but not in gray - they gray looked alot better.

This isnt the greatest photo (I live in the darkest apartment - soon to change!).  Its salmon pink singlet with the white frill in the centre.  The quality of Erin Louise's singlets are awesome as well.

If ASOS really is the devil, its a very effective and rewarding one.  I just put in another order as I am staying longer at work now so need some work maternity clothes (will post on other blog about maternity clothing), chucked in a extra pretty dress for after baby cause it was so cheap and pretty!

Asos and arrgh to ordering from dodge websites!

A week after my laptop battery charger died, I still don't have the new charger I ordered. As soon as it died a week ago I jumped on my Iphone googled websites that sold replacement chargers for my laptop and ordered and paid for one. Now, the website is literally called laptop batteries Australia, it said same day shipping and all currency was in aus dollars and postage options were only aus post. On Friday when it hadn't turned up I sent an email, turns out it's a Hong Kong company! So it only left Hong Kong on Sat :-(. The said shipping takes 3-12 days. It is now SEVEN working days after ordering and no laptop charger turned up today :-(.  Frustration doesnt even begin to describe how I am feeling, especially as now I have had time to look at other website I could of got one the next day.

Image 1 of ASOS Pony Buckle Skinny Belt
I recieved this pony belt from ASOS:

This belt is a waist belt and I paid $10 for it, it was an impulse buy and I was thinking what the hell did I buy a pony belt for lol.  But its awesome, it will go with a few work outfits plus fits over my baby bump in a Maxi perfectly.  Love love love.  I am yet to be let down by ASOS :-).

The day my laptop died

Was the day my Blogger world died! Sad Face :-(. As previously posted my laptop was on it's way out and I was biding my time waiting for an IPad. Well it died - not how expected though, the battery charger just stop working. So I ordered another one and am praying it comes in the mail tomorrow! This has also impacted on my ability to work on the last assignment that is due, I have an extension till the end of the week - eek! I am currently using my iPhone, which is a little but tiny to blog on but times are tough!

The jewellery project continues, however since I can't add photos using iPhone, they will have to wait until the laptop gets revived. I also will update on more ASOS anoynomous purchases - unlike uploading photos to blogger via iPhone, buying asos on the iPhone is quite easy ;-). And yes I see the irony that I've probably spent my iPad money at Asos and now don't have a computer device!

Jewellery project and Magazines Galore

Today the jewellery project resumed, see items below (I am working on trying to capture better photos!):

Boring items but I actually wasn't feeling accessories today so had to force myself to choose these pieces. Black stud earrings part of a variety pack from diva. I have a tendancy to buy generic earrings like this alot forgetting I already have exact ones at home already!

Pink ring from diva. Told u they were boring choices ;-)

I haven't bought magazines for ages (I get who delivered weekly and glamour and allure delivered monthly. Hubby put extra dollars in my account so I used it wisely - bought magazines!! I got the Instyle I posted about last post. Mimco bag is okay for a freebie- but not happy about sneaky price surcharge! I haven't bought Instyle for years as I borrow it from the library, but I know it's not $9,95 which is what they are charging this issue!! I find that a bit deceptive, they certainly don't advertise the price jump it's written in small writing on the cover. So technically the bag isn't a freebie, it's like $2.

Shop til ya drop - I sporadically buy this mag, it had some good articles this month so I picked it up.

Cosmopolitan - I have had a subscription to this and Cleo for a few years, but because they wouldn't give me the $99.95 bundle I always got I wouldn't renew - over a year Cleo and Cosmo do some awesome freebies that subscribers miss out on.

Jewellery project brief pause and Goodies!!

The jewellery project has been on a three day break as I have hibernating in my apartment packing for our move in two weeks and finishing two uni assignments. Tomorrow I am let loose on society again (8 boxes packed one assignment submitted and one kinda getting there..), so jewellery project restarts.

Many hours of procrastination was also achieved over the long weekend, which included online shopping, lucky I had run out of $$ by the time I had discovered ASOS's sale, but I was able to order two more Erin Louise singlets.  I justify this expensive purchase with a) the other two singlets I recently purchased are beautiful and fit so well, b) I am moving back to the tropics where I will basically live in singlets - if I remained in my current location I wouldnt get enough wear out of them to justify the $$ and C) the other two singlets are 'going out' singlets and these two singlets are more everyday casual.  I just tried to get the pics of Erin Louise site - but they are not in the catalogue anymore ! yay this means I got in just in time cause I heart this singlets - I will post up pics when they arrive.

Part of the reason why I no longer get any Australian magazine subscriptions apart from Who magazine, is because I miss out the freebies in store - and sometimes magazines have some awesome freebies! This week Instyle have a free Mimco tote - I am totally in love with Mimco its my favourite bag brand, and I especially love their totes! Score:

I just want an Ipad 2! And Asos is still the devil

Currently the laptop I am using is dying a slow and painful death.  Recently it has decided not to connect to my Iphone personal hotspot anymore so I cant use the massive amount of data I have on that now! grr. It also takes hours to blog and do basic stuff.  I really just want an Ipad 2 (64gb WiiFi please!).  Hubby says wait though.  I want an Ipad2 for a number of main reasons:
  • blogging
  • reading e-books on Kindle
  • reading my magazine subcriptions on the ipad (both glamour and allure send me my mag in the mail but I can access it via the ipad as well).
  • reading blogs :-)
The laptop is to hard to read Ebooks on and although I want a Kindle, I need the IPad to blog on and read magazine subscriptions so it makes sense to just get the Ipad 2.

This reminds me of the time when I really wanted to upgrade to the Iphone 4 and had to wait for that as well,  my main whinge at the time was that I just wanted an Iphone 4 - see the funniest youtube video below about it:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DaxU0ut5tUw.

Asos is having a sale (another one) and still has free shipping.  Apparantly they had an 80% off one early this morning but I missed, damn sleep and all.  Now they have another one starting tomorrow.  I am ashamed that I already have a bag of stuff ready to purchase, I am not sure how long the sale goes for but I cannot afford until pay day which is some days away.  eeek.

When Capitalism is masked as Frugality, Jewellery project and another sample down

Recently this article was marketed as a Frugality article: http://www.news.com.au/money/money-matters/frugal-is-the-future-look-for-fashion-followers/story-e6frfmd9-1226159933527.  Quite clearly this is an advertisment for the launch of a new Kmart range.  And in fact the blogger they feature Penny Chic blogs about Walmart fashion (American Kmart). Penny Chic's blog is actually really good and is a brilliant example of smart advertising in todays social networking environment.  I had actually thought Kmart had improved their shoe range recently to start matching Targets good range.

Today's Jewellery:
These black and gold bracelets are from Sportsgirl.  Cant remember how mcuh they cost.  I also wore a my gold watch and hoops but I am not including them in the project as they are investment pieces.

10 pan project sample project - two down:
This is a sample of Mariah Carey's perfume, at first I liked it because it was so different to my normal perfumes.  By half way through I couldnt stand the floral overtones and gave up on this.  Lucky it was free!

Goody goodies and so many projects

I got a few goodies today, all skincare stuff (I think this is okay and doesnt clash with my no buy makeup policy/10 pan project):
I really wanted a Clarisonic but I really cant afford one.  After researching alternatives I found the Olay Pro X brush getting awesome reviews on MakeupAlley.  The Olay Pro X brush is only about $40 US, I dont know why but its not only not for sale in Australia but it is I couldnt find any US sellers that would sell to Australia!  Amazon specifically says not available for shipping to Australia :-(.  Eventually I purchased off Ebay for $50.  I will post review when I start using.  Because of baby baking I cannot use my Retin A anymore so I am hoping that this exfoliater brush will make an impact on my skin similar to Retin A.

I heart Avon.  I havent know an Avon seller for a while, so I was excited when one popped up on my work bulletin board and I was finally able to put an order in!  I bought the Avon anew rejuvanate sapphire night emulsion.  It was a little bit expensive - $39.99, however I recieved a bucket load of freebies with it that more than made up for the price!!  YAY Avon :-)
The Jewellery Project: Day 2.  This bracelet is new (previously posted purchase) $5 from Sportsgirl.  Earrings from Diva, they were part of a pack of multi earrings.

The old becomes new Jewellery project and the art of zen

Today was the first day of my project 'wear all my jewellery before I buy anymore project', I have alot to wear! eek:
This necklace I got from a boutique for $20, its one of my favourites so I kicked off this project with a fairly easy choice :-).

The ring was $2 from Diva - cant beat a deal like that ;-).

The Art of Zen: Today I drove my car to work, which I rarely do as I take the bus usually.  It was 8am and I was putting the change in the meter ($8 worth of change!!) and was waiting the 5 seconds it takes for the ticket to come out when the lady behind me said 'just push the button', I glanced at her pushed the button again and said the ticket is coming but Ive pushed it again for you (with what I thought was a light hearted laugh cause seriously what the - it had been about 5 seconds and it said ticket printing), as I grabbed the ticket and walked away she totally lost it and started swearing at me and carrying on.  I just ignored her because clearly this lady had problems if waiting for the ticket to come out of the meter took her over the edge at 8 in the morning!  I refused to let her mood impact mine, good karma for me and bad karma for her!

Mad Men tv series: After discovering the tv shows Game of Thrones and How to Make it in America, I thought I would give the Mad Men tv series a go.  Especially as Mad Men get such awesome reviews and the actors are in the magazines all the time getting papped and doing interviews.  And I did try to like it, I watched three episodes but I just found it boring. Sad Face :-(.

Confessions and Benefit Browbar

It is the day before my 'wear all my jewellery before buying more project'! And I have forgotten to post the last two purchases I made at Colette Acessories (I need to work on my photography skills!):

Bracelets - $9.95, these are alot more vibrant in real life, the lighting in our apartment is pitiful and probably the dodgy notebook backdrop is not helping.  I bought these last week but forgot to own up to the purchases :-).  I did have these on my wishlist for a week before I caved and bought though.  Lovisa has 10% off if you sign up for their newsletter in store, so I did and got 10% off my purchases.  The girl who was in line before me said no thanks when asked to sign up, why would you throw $5 away for the sake of forking over your name and email address.  I guess other people are more private than me, I will give my email address to anybody for money lol.

This headband was $4.95, I am totally addicted to headbands and did not need another one.  But it is sooo pretty :-) It is a goldy amber sparky headband.

Benefit's browbar has changed my life.  Well not exactly changed it, but has made it less stressful.  Last year the Myers where I live got a Mac and a Benefit ( Oh what a glorious day that was ! :-)).  And thus ended my years and years of chancing it at different beauty salons and hoping that they didnt butcher my eyebrows, I would estimate that at least once a year I would say to the beautician - please leave very thick and just tidy up, and then walk out with thin butchered eyebrows :-(.  Since visiting the Benefit browbar for the last year, my eyebrows have been Perfect with a capital P!  Primped blogged about the browbar a few years ago: http://www.primped.com.au/blogs/guest-blog/bag-instant-brow-benefits-at-the-new-benefit-brow-bar.

Always think twice and the appreciation project and Myers Sale

Today I browsed in Lovisa which is my favourite jewellery store (no diamonds for me!).  I must have been a Bower bird in a past (I would say magpie as they like reflective things but I have had no urges to swoop people!).  I madly picked up a few things, a yellow bangle, the blue stone ring featured in pic, the orange ring below in silver and another diamonte bug ring.  I then realised that although I had the money for these purchases, I really didnt have the budget for them.  So I thought about what I already had at home - I have a yellow bangle, while not exactly the same its very similar - I have a similar diamonte bug, I dont have a blue rock ring but I also dont really need one for $12.99 (wait for the sales!).  So I plopped them all back where I got them from and walked out.

After thinking about how close I had been to making these impulse purchases that I would regretted paying full price for, it gave me an idea for a project.  So Wednesday I am going to start a project where I wear every piece of my jewellery collection (not all on one day lol), and appreciate what I have before I buy anymore (eeek, thats a serious committment for me).  Stay tuned!

Today Hubby and I wandered into Myers for a 'browse' and walked out with a new bedding set, towels and a bathmat.  Myers is having an awesome sale at the moment and we got 40% off the Vue doona cover and sheets sets (total of $160 and the are sooo silky) and 40% off the Sheridan towels and bathmat we picked up.  I am so excited about the how nice the towels feel, they were $26 each reduced from $44 each:

Introducing the next generation Sheridan towel. Featuring AIR TWIST™ technology, this towel is luxuriously soft, instantly absorbent and very quick to dry. AIR TWIST™ technology is an intelligent spinning technique that takes 100% cotton yarns and traps them with air. The result is a lightweight luxury towel that feels great but dries faster than any of our towels in the bathroom, on the line and in the dryer.

Kimonos

It seems Kimonos are popping up everywhere at the moment, which works for me because I have realised that its a look I really want to go with this Spring/Summer.  Here is Nicole Ritchie wearing the kind of look I am lemming:
Here are some Kimono's I found at Cotton On:

There are currently heaps of different styles in stores, but I ended up purchasing the below two styles, and I think that will be it for now (I think Summer is going to be way to hot to buy anymore than two!):

I bought this from Ally for $19.99.  I love it, its really light weight (leopard print).

This is exactly what it looks like, a white sheer button up shirt!  Unbuttoned it basically works like a Kimono anyway.  Being white it is really crisp and Summery :-).
Here is an example of a Summer Kimono outfit:

Gorgeous Singlets and ten pan project sample style

Today I visited the Handmade Markets, mainly because I knew that Erin Louise was going to have a stall there and I wanted to check out her awesome singlets. The markets were really good, I got to try a macaroon (finally) which was delicious, and there were some gorgeous stuff there.  I also picked up two of Erin Louise's singlets - there were so many to choose from, but I just go these two ($60 for both):

I have decided to expand the ten pan project and separate them as well - so now I have the ten pan project for Samples.  I love freebies so collect samples all the time, I am always surprised when I share where to get samples from and people are not interested - maybe they dont want to end up with drawers full like me!  For example recently I got about 6 samples from magazines for Sunsilks new 'Teddy Charles' range, if you havent seen the tv ad for this you should youtube it, it is so funny like Zoolander but they are being serious lol.  Anyway I have used two of these now, but I will only count this one since I just started the countdown.  So one sample down, 9 to go!
This product is actually quite good and I would recommend it.  I got two uses out of this sample.
